Genetic inheritance of double tail

The double tail trait is a simple recessive trait.

I will show four different cross possibilities.

double tail = "dt"

normal state (single) = "+"

double tail (dtdt) x single tail cross (++)
X + +
dt dt+ dt+
dt dt+ dt+

All fish will be single tail carrying the dt gene "dt geno"
This can result in increased dorsal ray count
providing a fuller appearance

double tail (dtdt) x double tail geno (dt+)
X dt +
dt dtdt dt+
dt dtdt dt+

50% double tail 50% single tail with "dt geno"

double tail geno (dt+) x double tail geno (dt+)
X dt +
dt dtdt dt+
+ +dt ++

25% double tails 25% single tail 50% single tail with "dt geno"

double tail (dtdt) x double tail cross (dtdt)
X dt dt
dt dtdt dtdt
dt dtdt dtdt

All fish will be double tail -
Not generally recommended for successive generations
This can result in decreased body length and increased body thickness.
